Dancing With the Stars Recap: Brandy Takes it to the Maks, Birthday Girl Bristol Bombs
This fifth week of competition on Dancing With the Stars was TV Theme week, with all eight couples performing to the music of a popular program, past or present.
Kind of a cheesy idea, but producers clearly had a lot of fun with it, as did the stars and their partners. In the end, good, clean fun was had by all on TV's #1 show.
Who led the way and who's at risk tonight? The results were somewhat predictable in terms of scoring, but that doesn't mean there weren't a few surprises ...
Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovsky got the Friends theme, a fun choice since: 1. Maks is rumored to be more than friends with his partner every season. 2. They fight a lot! After last night's near-perfect quickstep, they have less reason to. 27.
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough acted like they were Married With Children when they bickered in rehearsal. They battled through what was a bit of an up-and-down effort (albeit by their lofty standards) for a second-place total of 25.
Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya Bewitched us grooving to a TV theme seemingly custom-made for ballroom. One of their best efforts yet yielded a 24.
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke danced the rumba to Hill Street Blues. Elegant and smooth, and with Rick less stiff than usual, the judges rewarded them with a 24.
Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani showed solid technique with the rumba, but the judges felt it lacked emotion. No making love on the floor means only 23.
Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas, much like Audrina got The Hills, got the Brady Bunch theme. Pretty good, but herky-jerky near the end, netting them 21.
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer went all Charlie’s Angels on us, which seemed quite cute at first, then devolved into a bit of an eye-roller and a modest 20.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas monkeyed around with The Monkees and the birthday girl brought up the rear. Not very sharp at any all for an evening-low 18.
She was clearly the weakest link last night, but does Bristol have the fan support to pull off an upset over Florence or Kyle and stick around? We'll find out tonight.
